I’ve realized that my style of photography stems from my lack of love for being photographed.

I remember being a kid and hiding whenever the camera came out. I loathed having to pose, smile and perform in front of the camera. Perhaps it was simply my introverted nature. Regardless, being photographed was not my thing.

As I grew, I decided I could be the person on the other side of the camera. I loved taking pictures of people. There was one catch though. I didn’t want my subject to feel like I did when a camera came out. I didn’t want them to shrink or want to hide. My experience led me to Documentary Photography.

While an introvert at heart, I’m no perfectionist. I’m a lover of life just as it is. I enjoy living and capturing the moments just as they are.

I love to see my own life as it really is…beautifully raw.

After a photo session, I eagerly wait to see what was captured. I love sitting down to see the story unfold before my eyes.

The picture below tells me about my daughter’s obsession of gymnastic. Every time she is at this playground, she practices her pull over!

I know that this photo resonates with you, if you’re a mother of a teenage boy! Naturally as an Italian, I’m affectionate! I’m a kisser and hugger – especially with my kids! While in public they may not appreciate it, this guy here loves to snuggle at home.

And this one here…you see I’m trying to take part in what my kids do everyday at this park…but I’m scared to death! I’m continually amazed by what they are able to do and enjoy!

We love dogs! We recently adopted a puppy and our life has been rearranged a little bit – it revolves more around her! Whenever we adopt a new pup, we name it after the place we’re currently living. So, this one here is Georgia! The other dog is Rio, whom we adopted while living in Brazil.

I’ll be able to look at this picture and plant myself back in this moment for years to come.

These kids…they find so many ways to play. Most of the time I fear they’ll be hurt, but that hasn’t happened yet so maybe my fears aren’t justified.

I told you I’m a kisser and hugger. I want my kids to look back and remember me as I truly am. When a documentary photographer walks in your life to take photos of you and your people, I personally avoid any barrier between her/him and me. I want to be myself because I know that my ultimate goal is to create a lasting legacy for my kids. And what’s the point if the pictures if they don’t reveal my true story?

These amazing photos were taken by the phenomenal Chanda Williams. I’ll be forever grateful for her having captured these moments in my life!

Every single photos has a story.

What are you waiting for? Let’s capture the story unfolding in your life.
