Our son is normally scared of new people but Barbara was so nice and friendly that he was himself within minutes.

Barbara was amazing. Surprised my wife for Christmas with photos of our 1.5 year old. They turned out better than we could have ever imagined. Our son is normally scared of new people but Barbara was so nice and friendly that he was himself within minutes. She made it so easy for him to play and explore and captured all the best moments.

I would highly recommend Barbara!

She is such an incredibly warm and generous and beautiful spirit, it felt so easy to have her in our home and that is reflected in the beautiful photos she took.

I would highly recommend Barbara to anyone looking for photos that capture the essence and spirit of their children and family. I knew that I wanted portraits of my 1-year old son but also knew that I didn’t want them to feel posed or formal (nor could I imagine my son sitting for those!) Barbara’s approach is that of a documentary photographer–she comes to your home, and within minutes you forget that she is there. She is such an incredibly warm and generous and beautiful spirit, it felt so easy to have her in our home and that is reflected in the beautiful photos she took–she captured my son, and our family, in the most natural, organic, effortless way. I never thought I’d describe a photo shoot as fun (I hate having my photo taken!), but this one was a true pleasure. Our photos of our son are so beautiful and unique. I can’t wait to have Barbara come back to take more photos in the future–if you want special, heirloom-level photos of your family to keep and frame, I couldn’t more highly recommend her.

She has a unique way of turning something that you might be self-conscious of (say a messy house or a screaming toddler) into something truly beautiful and uniquely you.

We hired Barbara for the first time in September 2018 to photograph our family in our home after the birth of our second child. It was such a comfortable, laid back experience for all of us and the photographs were exactly what we were looking for– a peek into our chaotic, loud, messy lives with two very young children and a small dog. We hired her again in August of 2019 to take photos of our family before we moved abroad. Again, Barbara did not disappoint. She was so easy-going and the photographs were really quite perfect for us. We wanted to remember our family exactly as we were at that moment in time and we received that. For us, she is the perfect family photographer.
Barbara is an extremely lovely woman and is incredibly talented. She blends seamlessly into your environment and becomes part of the family during your session. She gets along so easily with children and family and is not judgmental whatsoever. She genuinely wants to capture you and your family as you are because that’s the art of it all. She has a unique way of turning something that you might be self-conscious of (say, a messy house, or a screaming toddler) into something truly beautiful and uniquely you. Her eye for the photo is what really sets her apart. For example, she overheard me talk about how much I love to watch my daughter eat because she has such delicate fingers. Barbara captured some of the most beautiful photos of my daughter eating and somehow she remembered that and captured it so beautifully. Barbara’s style is not the ‘overly posed, bright light, everyone’s wearing white and looks the same’ type of photographer. She captures your life instead, which to me is much more beautiful. When I look at the photos she has taken of our family, I am so thankful we hired her. I will always treasure our time with Barbara and when we are back in Atlanta in the future, I will definitely ask her to photograph us again. Hire her, you will not regret a thing!”

Her photos are invaluable gifts, and her documentary style is a refreshing respite from what has become standard family photography.

I’ve had the pleasure of playing witness to several friends benefit from the magic of photos with Barbara over the past few years. Last week, it was our turn to be on the other side of her lens as she captured intimate moments as new parents with our firstborn. As others have said in their reviews, having Barbara present for life milestones is like having family there with you. She seamlessly blends into the moment and has a fittingly raw talent for capturing raw moments as they happen. Her photos are invaluable gifts, and her documentary style is a refreshing respite from what has become standard family photography. We are blessed to know Barbara and grateful that she shared her talents with us in such a meaningful way.

From beginning to end, the experience was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced; all at once she melded into the family setting and put everyone at ease.

Recently we had the privilege of working with documentary photographer and artist @barbaranaso. She spent a good part of the day shadowing our family and capturing the small and often overlooked moments of everyday life. This is just a tiny sampling of what she witnessed. From beginning to end, the experience was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced; all at once she melded into the family setting and put everyone at ease. I was afraid our everyday would be too boring, but I am so thankful she persisted, because now we’ll have these small moments to treasure forever. If you are in the Atlanta area, and looking to memorialize the unsung but arguably most important aspects of your family life, definitely reach out. For as C.S. Lewis says, “Life happens in the small moments… And it adds up before you know it.” #motherhoodunstressed

She completely blends in with the surroundings. By the time she was done I knew I had a friend shooting my wedding.

When my husband and I were looking for a photographer for our wedding we reached out to our local community on the app NextDoor to find someone to fit our style and vision for our day. Boy, did they come through for us. After looking through a few portfolios of local photographers we came across Barbara Naso. I was immediately drawn to her style. There were real smiles! No posed, awkward grimaces. She is a documentary style photographer and that is exactly what she did, document my family how we were on our wedding day.

I wasn’t sure what to expect at first but included in our package was an hour “pre shoot” (which I would absolutely recommend) at my house with friends. This shoot made me comfortable with Barbara and her style. She completely blends in with the surroundings. By the time she was done I knew I had a friend shooting my wedding.

At first we were a little nervous about the price of the day, but I will honestly say it was worth every penny. And compared to other photographers were offering she was there for much longer and captured much, MUCH more.

After the wedding when I checked in with my family about the day, every one of them raved about how Barbara was kind, warm, and a part of the family. My nephew deemed it necessary to chase her with a frog (an obvious initiation to our family.)

I very rarely enjoy pictures that are taken of me, I get uncomfortable and make silly faces. I was nervous waiting on the “preview” photos from Barbara. When I received them a few days ago, I was overwhelmed. They are simply perfect. My husband felt the same way.

If anyone is hesitant about this type of photography, take the chance. It is so worth it.

Barbara was amazing – never intruding, never posing us – just witnessing a day in the life and capturing it for us.

After seeing Barbara’s work on a friend’s timeline, I booked her for a Mother’s Day session. I was drawn to her ability to capture real moments and not standard, posed portraits.

Barbara got to know us through a pre-visit questionnaire and great communication over email. When she arrived, we just went about our normal day and Barbara was in the background, taking pictures of everything – the energy of the boys playing in the backyard, the tender moment checking in with my son who fell down, my son sneaking my coffee in the background when I wasn’t looking. Barbara was amazing – never intruding, never posing us – just witnessing a day in the life and capturing it for us.

The slideshow she sent is beautiful. With 3 energetic boys, there are moments of absolute chaos, moments of pure joy and quiet moments. We chose a selection of photos to be printed and will cherish those and the digital images forever.

Thank you, Barbara!!!

She captures real life and makes of each moment, even the simplest one, a piece of art.

Extremely discreet, kind and considerate, Barbara is an incredible photographer. The way she makes everyone at his/her own ease is something hard to explain and to believe until she spends the day with you and your family and you all forget she is shooting at you.
She captures real life and makes of each moment, even the simplest one, a piece of art. Her photography is not only an amazing reproduction of your daily life, it is a story that she is able to tell through extraordinarily breathtaking shots.
The way she stops feelings and emotions goes over the simple shooting.
She is highly recommended!

Barbara is someone you meet and immediately feel like you’ve known all your life. Her warm personality and love of people makes those on the other side of her camera feel at ease, allowing for natural moments to be captured.

Barbara is incredibly gifted at what she does. She’s with your family in an organic way and captures the moments that make up the marrow of your family, as well as their connections.

She did what two other people could not do

Excellent / Outstanding: Barbara performed an incredible feat of photographing my partner Bill and I with our 3 Vizslas – Quinn, Alex and Luna. Barbara, did all this alone catching incredible images throughout our home. She did what two other people could not do and although I’m a designer, she initiated different backdrops and settings, making our photographs tremendously creative!

She is patient and very sweet.

Barbara is great. She spend over 2 hours at our home and took the most beautiful pictures of my kids. She is patient and very sweet. As a result of her visit we now have several of her doumementary photography around our house and everyone is always very impressed with the pictures. Barbara is a treat to work with. If you are looking for something other than your regular pictures in the park, Barbara is who you are looking for.

Barbara is an absolute artist of photography.

Her documentary style picks up more detail of real life than any posed photo could hope to do. She is a hidden talent in Atlanta with true Italian charm. Not only is Barbara gifted in her art, but she is compassionate, respectful, and kind. But when she is “working”, she is a mere fly on the wall ready to capture life’s most precious moments.

Barbara is the perfect choice – especially with children!

We had a wonderful experience with Barbara: she did a session with my girls last fall and recently shot one of their birthday parties. If you are looking for an amazing, sweet and patient photographer in Atlanta and you like spontaneous, unstructured and natural pictures of your family, Barbara is the perfect choice – especially with children!

I get to exist. I become part of my family’s visual history.

When we can press pause on the pummeling of moments that rapidly unfold, we can transcend real time. Within that fraction of a second pause the present is suspended forever in a photograph, and I get to see myself and my family in a way that is impossible to see in reality.

How I am seen in the moment by Barbara is a welcome difference from how I often feel in real life. When I so often feel rushed, I am seen as a nurturer. When I so often feel distracted, I am seen as a giver of attention. When I so often feel like I spend my days nagging my kids, I am seen as playful. I am reminded that I am enough when I am seen.

Beautiful pictures. Beautiful experience.

Barbara is hands down the best at capturing the beauty of real life. But, she’s also the best a becoming part of your family for the time she’s with you! She paused her shoot to simply play and be present with my children. Beautiful pictures. Beautiful experience.

She even got some great ones of our dogs!

Barbara did a session with my three girls last fall. She was wonderful with the girls and really captured their personalities in each photo. She even got some great ones of our dogs!
